How To Draw A Dragon Doodle
Follow along with our easy Dragon doodle tutorial. Simply follow each step by drawing the part of the doodle in RED.
Instructions
Step 1
Decide where you want your cute dragon doodle on the page and start by drawing the head of your dragon. The head is created from a circle and then add the features such as a curved line for the neck and more curved lines to create the snout and smile of your dragon drawing.

Step 2
Next add the face of your dragon. We went super cute but you can play around with the eye shape, with or without eyebrows, adding a forked tongue or whatever your imagination likes!

Step 3
We then added some horns using curved lines. You can change the shape of these to make your dragon drawing unique or even miss this step.

Step 4
Draw the wing next. This is just like a bat wing with a curved outer line and a scalloped line for the bottom of the wing. Remember, it doesn't have to be perfect.

Step 5
Add the details on the wings, this can be as simple or as complex as you like. We went simple with a few curved lines to add character.

Step 6
Start the front of your dragon next. Draw a curved line that will be the dragons chest.

Step 7
Now do the front legs. These are very simple curved shapes but you can add claws if you like.

Step 8
Create a curved line for your dragons belly then draw the back legs. Can you see the circle that helps make the top of the back leg? Using basic shapes to help you create parts makes doodling so much easier.

Step 9
Next create your dragon's tail. We curved this around low but you could make yours higher or turned up.

Step 10
We kept our dragon simple and have added semi circles along the dragins back for scales. You could draw scales over the whole body if you want.

Step 11
Follow the line along the chest and belly of your dragon a little way out from the original lines. Then draw horizontal lines to add some texture to your doodle.

Step 12
You have reached the last step. And that is to have fun and color your dragon drawing. You can copy the image or have fun personalizing your dragon doodle in any colors you want. You could even add sparkle, fire breathing and more.

How to Make Your Dragon Unique
Every dragon you draw can tell a story. Maybe it’s a sleepy dragon dreaming beside a candle, or a happy one perched on your journal header.
Here’s how to make your dragon drawing simple but still full of personality:
- Change the tail shape — long and flowy or short and curled.
- Adjust the wings — tiny fairy wings or wide bat-like ones.
- Give it accessories — scarves, crowns, or little stars.
- Try different colors for scales.
If you love fantasy art, experiment with light and shadow for a realistic dragon reference drawing look. Or keep it fun and round for a cute dragon drawing kawaii style.
