Instructions
Step 1
Decide where you want your owl on your page and start by drawing the shape for your owl's head. This is a basic oval shape that is indented at the center of the bottom. You may want to lightly sketch this with a pencil until you are happy with the shape.
Step 2
Next, you will be drawing the face of your owl. Create a large V with the point lining up with the indent of the face. Then create the brow in the upper part of the face. Make sure the point of this is also central.
Step 3
The eyes of your owl are next. You will want these quite large. So draw a circle on each side of your V from step 2, then draw a smaller circle inside for the pupil. Repeat on the other side. To create the beak, simply draw a straight line crossing the bottom of the V.
Step 4
To create the body of the owl, draw two lines that curve out from the head, leaving a space at the bottom ( this will be for the claws of your owl). If you want your owl super fluffy then make these more curved. You can try different looks as you practise.
Step 5
Now for the claws of your owl. In the space you left in the body from the last step, draw two claws. These can be as simple or as detailed as you like. In the example we have done a simple and cute style.
Step 6
To create the wings on your owl, just draw two curved lines on either side of the body. We have put these on the inside of the body so the wings look like they are tucked up.
Step 7
Add the tail next by drawing three long feather shapes under the claws.
Step 8
To add some texture to your owl, you can add feathers to the body. Just like the claws these can be as simple or as artistic as you want. For simple feathers just do three large wavy lines across the body.
Step 9
The last step is to have fun and color your owl. You can color in any color or try to copy the colors in your favorite owl species.
